Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026 · Effective: October 22, 2026
Sorry Not Public LLC ("Sorry Not Public," "we," "us," or "our") makes Hey Cursor, a personal AI assistant. Hey Cursor runs on iPhone and Android, on the web at sayheycursor.com, and on your Mac as Hey Cursor for Mac. One account works across all of them. In this policy, "Services" means all of these and anything else we offer that links to this policy.
This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
1. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
2. Information You Provide
Account details: your name, username, mobile number or email, and profile photo. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your phone or email.
Conversations: the messages, photos, files, and voice you send Hey Cursor and your Cursors, and the replies, files, and other results they make for you.
Things you create: Cursors and their instructions, goals, tasks, reminders, notes, files, and posts, and anything you share with a team or send to other people in your Inbox.
Teams: team names and logos, who is on a team and their roles, and what members say in a team's shared chat or ask its Cursors.
Shared Cursors: if you share a Cursor in Browse Cursors, its name, description, instructions, and suggested apps are shown to other members. Your first name is shown only if you choose to show it.
Invites: who invited you, the invite link or code you used, and, if you invite others, the people credited to you.
Payments: paid plans are billed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your plan, billing status, and limited payment details.
Support: tickets, reports, and feedback you send us.
3. Information Collected When You Use the Services
Hey Cursor works by using the information you give it and, with your permission, information from apps and devices you connect. It may come across sensitive information you choose to share or that appears in accounts you connect. We handle it only to do what you ask.
Memory
Hey Cursor remembers facts and preferences from your personal chats, including corrections you give it, and the people you mention. It can search your own past personal chats. This memory is private to you.
Incognito chats are not saved, and nothing is remembered from them.
A team's shared chat, Cursors, and team memory are visible to that team's members. Hey Cursor never brings your personal memory into a team chat.
Voice
When you hold the mic to talk with Hey Cursor, or use live voice on your Mac, your audio is streamed to our AI provider while you talk. We do not keep the audio. The words you and Hey Cursor say are saved in your chat as text.
Dictation turns your speech into text through our AI provider. The audio is not kept.
The Mac app keeps a small voice diagnostics log on your Mac (times, a short session code, and error codes; never audio or your words). It stays on your Mac unless you choose to send it to us. When a voice conversation fails, its last few entries may be sent with that conversation's usage record so we can see what went wrong.
Connected apps
You choose which apps to connect (for example Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, or Notion) and what your Cursors may do in each. Sign-in tokens for these apps are held by our app-connection provider, Composio, not on your devices.
When a Cursor uses a connected app for you, the content it reads or changes passes through Composio and is sent to our AI provider to complete the task. Composio keeps tool-call logs, which can include inputs and results, for up to one year.
Your Cursors ask before sending, deleting, sharing, or spending, unless you choose otherwise.
Disconnecting an app deletes its stored tokens at Composio. You can also remove Hey Cursor's access in that app's own account settings.
Apps and files on your devices
On your phone, Contacts, Calendar, and Reminders are read on the device when you ask something that needs them. We never copy them to our servers. Only what a given answer needs is sent for that one reply.
On your Mac, Hey Cursor works only with the folders you choose and the Mac apps you allow (such as Mail, Messages, and Notes). Their contents stay on your Mac except for what a given task needs, which is sent to our AI provider for that task.
Screen, microphone, speech recognition, and Accessibility features on your Mac each require the matching macOS permission, which you can turn off at any time in System Settings.
Your Mac and your phone
When you pair your phone with your Mac, commands, files, and photos you send between them pass through our relay so they can reach a Mac that is asleep or away. Screen sharing from your Mac to your phone streams directly between the two devices and is not stored by us.
When a Cursor does a task on your Mac, including in the Mac app's browser panel, it takes pictures of the window it is working in and sends them to our AI provider while the task runs. Screenshots of each browser step are kept with the task so you can review what happened. Logins and cookies in the browser panel stay on your Mac.
Information from Google
If you connect Google apps, Hey Cursor reads and acts only within the permissions you grant. Hey Cursor's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide the features you use. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell it, do not use it to train generalized AI models, and do not let people read it except with your consent, for security, or as required by law.
Collected automatically
Device and usage: device type, operating system, app version, features used, timestamps, error logs, and IP address.
Usage counts: how many messages and agent messages you use, so we can apply your plan's limits.
Push notifications: a device token, if you allow notifications.
App suggestions on your Mac are off unless you turn them on. When on, the Mac app checks the name of the app in front and the address in your browser, on your Mac, to suggest an app to connect. Nothing is stored or sent unless you choose Connect.
4. How We Use Information
To run your account, Hey Cursor, your Cursors, and your teams
To do what you ask, with the apps you connect and within the permissions you set
To process payments and subscriptions and credit invites
To send notifications you allow
To keep the Services safe, secure, and reliable, and to prevent fraud and abuse
To comply with the law
We may count anonymous signals, for example how often an approval is allowed or denied, to improve Hey Cursor for everyone. These counts contain no names, account identifiers, or message content.
We do not use your conversations, files, or connected app data to train AI models.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and keep the Services working and secure. When you open someone's invite link (sayheycursor.com/@name), the website sets a cookie for 60 days that holds only that invite name, so your inviter can be credited. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser, but some features may stop working.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising. We share it only as follows:
AI provider. To answer you, Hey Cursor sends your message and the context it needs (for example relevant memory, file excerpts, screen images, or data from a connected app) to OpenAI, using its business API. If we add another AI provider, we will name it here first.
Service providers who help us run the Services, under confidentiality and only for the work they do for us: Supabase (accounts, database, and storage), Vercel (website hosting), Composio (connected apps), Stripe (payments), Twilio (sign-in codes by text message), Resend (sign-in codes by email), and Apple and Google (push notifications). Their processing may happen outside your country.
Third parties a Cursor works with for you, such as a connected app or a website, receive what that task needs.
People you choose: what you share with a team, send in your Inbox, post publicly, or share as a Cursor.
Invites: if you invite people, you see each friend's first name and last initial, photo, join date, plan, and what you earned, never their email. A friend you invited sees your first name and photo.
Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
Professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, under confidentiality.
Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect people and the Services.
7. Your Choices and Controls
See and correct your profile in Settings › Account.
See, edit, or delete what Hey Cursor remembers about you in Settings, or erase it all at once.
Use an Incognito chat when you don't want a conversation saved or remembered.
Disconnect any app, and change what your Cursors may do, in Settings.
Turn off notifications in Settings or in your device's settings. Device permissions such as microphone, contacts, calendar, screen recording, and Accessibility can be withdrawn in your device's settings.
Request a full copy of your data in Settings › Data controls.
Delete your account in Settings › Account. This deletes it everywhere you use Hey Cursor, cancels paid plans, and disconnects your connected apps.
8. Data Retention
We keep your information while your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. You can delete your memory and your account at any time. Payment and transaction records are kept as long as the law requires for tax and accounting. Backups roll off on their own schedule.
9. Children's Privacy
The Services are for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 and will delete such accounts when we learn of them.
10. Data Security
We use encryption in transit, encrypted storage, and access controls. On your Mac, sign-in credentials are kept in the Mac Keychain. No system is perfectly secure; tell us right away if you think someone has accessed your account.
An assistant that acts for you carries its own risks. A Cursor may misunderstand a request, produce incorrect results, or be misled by instructions hidden in a website, email, or document it reads. We design Hey Cursor to treat such content as information rather than instructions and to ask before important actions, but review what it proposes before you approve it, and connect only the accounts you are comfortable with it using. Avoid sharing passwords, card numbers, or other secrets in chat.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of it, or to object to or restrict certain uses. Many of these are available directly in Settings (Section 7). To exercise any others, contact us. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
